Starting with a wedged ball of clay like the ones in the lower right corner of the two pictures above, Jason first centers the clay (above left). Next, the walls of the piece are brought first out (above), then up (left). |

The vessel is beginning to take shape! In the next three frames, Jason carefully evens the walls, working the wet clay into the height, width, and shape desired. A gentle and steady hand is critical. |
