Shaping From Clay Part 2

a Journey with Master Potter Jason Parsley

Already a functional container, it's time for Jason to add his distinctive touch to his newest creation.  Now he shapes and smoothes the rim (above left and right), giving it an outward lip, and a subtle ridge at the base of the neck.

Finally Jason trims the foot (left), then accents the vase bottom with a single ring (below left).  Always pleased by a job well done, Jason takes a moment to reflect before the work continues (below).  In just a few minutes, a ball of clay has become a greenware vase.
