When I decided to establish Parsley Pottery in 1987, I was eagerly following in the historic tradition of Cincinnati Art Pottery. I particularly admire the work created by American Arts & Crafts Movement potters of the late 19th century. For 22 years I have been handcrafting glazes and creating original designs for my functional and decorative pottery. Most of these pieces are thrown on the potter’s wheel while others are hand-crafted using slabs and manipulating their forms.
Each piece is decorated with hand-painted designs, original carvings and/or proprietary glaze formulas. All glazes are lead-free and mixed in the studio from raw materials. My signature design, the glaze-trailed vine, is achieved by formulating a thickened glaze and then using a syringe to apply the color to a piece of bisque ware. This effect produces a multi-dimensional surface texture with intricately detailed lines and rich color. With proper care, your piece should last a lifetime and become a family heirloom.
